Meeting of 10 January 2017

14:10 hours The Commander called the meeting to order, the opening ceremonies were held, there were
24 members present.
(01:31) The Commander asked the Chaplin, to call the roll of Officers.
Edwin Matos - Adjutant was out
Chuck Spikes was there be became ill and left.
All other were present and/or accounted for.
(02:25) The Commander read the minnutes of Novembers meeting,
(09:08) A motion to approve the report was made John McGee and seconded by Artie Gooding, voted on and approved.
(09:26) The Commander read the minutes of November and December meetings,
(15:18) A motion to approve the report was made Artie Gooding and seconded by Dewey Drawdy, voted on and approved.
(15:30) The Commander asked for the treasurer report
The treasurer report was given by the treasurer.
A motion to approve the report was made Artie Gooding and seconded by Mike Warner, voted on and approved.
Do to the nature of these reports - Chapter members may ask the Treasurer to see them at the meeting hall.
Under Section 4.6 of the Chapter By-laws "...The Treasurer shall make a report on finances at each meeting and records shall be open to any member in good standing
when they request that record(s) in writing through the Executive Committee."
(17:07) The Commander asked Chaplin, to make the illness report.
We have three (3) passings.
Kenneth Aldrich, age 70, Inglis, FL - 15 December 2016 - U. S. Marine
William Mason, age 54, Homosassa, FL - January 2017 - U. S. Army
William Graden, age 74, Herando, FL - former Commander - U. S. Air Force
No other reports of sickness, other than Chuck Spikes.
(18:29) No one to take the obligation.
(18:32) Commander thinking that we have vistor, Julius Kerteaz from Homosassa, who in fact is a member of 70, just has not been to meeting in a very long time.
Was welcomed to the Chapter - we hope you come back often.
Two (2) 1) DAV Department of Florida News Letter for December 2016.
Commander noted the US Army retirement event at UCF in Orlando on 24 February 2017.
(23:09) 2) Commander's letter he posted on the website, noting 2016.
Pointed out that six (6) of us and two (2) of the County Services Offfices are going to VSO school.
That he would pick up any one wishing to go at the Hall.
He also reported that he filled in the FL Dept of Transportation Grant, but in looking at the grant form again, thinks we will not win that grant, may not meet what FDOT wants.
Command spoke that after school, in February the Chapter will start a fund raser for a new van for the DAV TN, so we may put a third van in use in Homosassa.
He spoke at that project and that he had gone to Chiefland - spoke to Chapter 63 about van service in Levy County - listen to that section of the audio.

Commemorative Pin Committee:
John Seamen reports that last month we took in $2,042.00, that by next month he should have a final total.
Commander noted that as the webmaster, he will have 'store' on line on the website, selling pins and anything else we may have.
Should have it up by February 20th.
(28:23) Scholarship Committee
John Seaman again, has the applications and will be going about getting the word out.
(58:49) Election Committee:
Nothing other than a looking for a treasurer.
(58:53) Grievance Committee:
Again, we do not have one as no one has any grievances, till now. Commmander talking to much.

Nothing to report - again what we say to each other outside of the Hall will alway return for the group as a whole.
(58:35) A Moment of Silence was held for our departed comrades.
(60:00) Good of the Order:
(61:00) John Seaman had old business - that being about the flag at the school - he called to tell them we would supply them, they report that they have many flags now.
But would let us know when they would have the ceremony.
(63:00) John Seaman won the 50/50.
(65:00) Another drawing was held, for a 'door prize' - Bill Holland won - "The Greatest Generation" by Tom Brokaw
Being no other business the Commander led the proper closing ceremony and declared the meeting of the Disabled American Veterans, DAV, Gerald A. Shonk, Chapter 70, Inc., Adjourned.
Our next meeting will be held on February 14, 2017 at 2 pm. - Come at 1 PM so we can feed you
