RECEIVE THOSE BENEFITS YOU EARNED

Our Veterans Services Officers (VSOs) assists veterans and their dependents with applications for compensation, pensions,
hospitalization and other benefits through an intake process that includes information and referral services.
Working with our National Service Officers in St. Petersburg and the Department of Veterans Affairs
to ensure that veterans, their dependents and survivors receive their richly deserved beneifts.

Services offered by our Veterans Service Officers include the following:
Informs veterans, dependents, and survivors of their eligibility for benefits payable through the Department of Veterans Affairs
Completes forms for benefits payable through the Department of Veterans Affairs
Completes forms and notifies the Department of Veterans Affairs of the death of a veteran
Informs survivors of procedures regarding military benefits
Obtains supporting documents for claims by veterans, their spouses and dependents

Meeting of 12 December 2017

14:10 hours The Commander called the meeting to order, the opening ceremonies were held, there were

13 members present.

(00:01:37) Chuck Vessey - Adjutant read the roll call.
John McGee - Service Officer - out
All other were present and/or accounted for.

(00:02:20) No new member to take the obligation.

(00:02:27) The Commander asked the Adjutant to read the minutes of the November meeting.
The Adjutant asked the members to vote on and approved the minutes as read - voted on and approved.
Since copies of the minutes were passed out before the meeting.

(00:02:55) Commander asked for the Treasurer's report.
Report given by Command in the asbent of the Treasurer
A motion to approve the report was made Ken Bender and seconded by William Holland, voted on and approved.
Do to the nature of these reports - Chapter members may ask the Treasurer to see them at the meeting hall.

(00:04:15) The Chaplin, make the illness report.
Nothing to report
If you know of a Chapter member who is ill, let us know so we may tell the Chaplain, so he can send a card.

(00:04:45) Communications:
Commander had given all hand out at the start of the meeting.
One not in those handouts - a letter from Ventura Village Apartments, located on Rt-200, Hernando, about a wheelchair unit that is open there.
Commander then went over the handout - not wishing to read each one.

Commemorative Pin Committee:
John Seamen said we collected over $1594.75 so far.
This figure does not include monies from the Golden Corral, about $1,500.00
We have about 300 pins left, and sales have been going well.

(00:12:46) Grievance Committee:
Again, we do not have one.

(00:13:00) Unfinished (Old) Business:
Commander had two items - one is about the minutes - the By Laws states that the minutes MUST BE READ and voted on.
Chuck Vessey made a montion that the ruling made last month be rescinded, and be stored per Robert Rules of Order: minutes read and be approved by those in attenance.
Second by Ken Bender - voted on and approved by all.
The other item is the Treasures report to be printed out - the Treasures noted that we are a 501 and anyone may ask to see those reports, adding a montion to rescind that ruling of last month, seconded by Dewey Drawdy - a disussion was held, points made that that books are open to members, outsider must ask in writing as per Charter.
Voted on and approved by all.

(00:21:10) New Business:
Deals with Veteran Service School, while is coming up - John McGee will not be going, Commander would like to have Citrus County United Way worker Jose White,
who is also a member of the Chapter to go.
After some disussion, Commander will ask Mr. White if the United Way will pay for him - item tabled till next meeting.

Nothing to report

(0:37:37) A Moment of Silence was held for our departed comrades.

(00:38:50) Good of the Order:
Bob Kline won the 50/50 - total of $10.00 which he donated to the Chapter.
William Holland also won the 'door prize' - an Eagle buss

(00:42:40) Bob kline made a motion to adjoure, seconded by Dewey Drawdy, approved by all.
Being no other business the Commander led the proper closing ceremony and declared the meeting of the Disabled American Veterans, DAV, Gerald A. Shonk, Chapter 70, Inc., Adjourned.

Our next meeting will be held on January 9, 2018 at 2 pm. - Come at 1 PM so we can feed you
