Meeting of 13 September 2016

for some reasome, both recorder just when out - new batteries in both,
so we only have twenty five minutes of the first guest speaker.


13:55 hours: After our feed we opened to a joint section.

First quest speaker of three was:

Amy Derry, Founder, CEO Training Director & Merlyn Lewis, Trainer of Central Florida Service Dogs, Inc. (a 501 (c)(3)

Second speaker was Kelly Crane, Independent Sales Repreentative for the National Cremaion Society.

Third speaker was C. J. Risak of the Citrus Chronicle, who writes for the Veterans Section.

14:45 hours We closed the 'Wall' and opened our meeting. 21 members present and six guest.

The Commander asked the Chaplin to call the roll of Officers, in the absent of the Adjuant, who was home awaiting repartmen.
Jr Vice Archie Gooding was still on vaction.
Service Officer Rod O'Keefe is still on vacation.
All other were present and/or accounted for.

The Commander read the minutes of the last meeting of June 14, 2016,
a motion was made by Deweny Dawdy,
seconded by Al Hayes, to accept them.
The minutes were approved by all.

The Commander asked for the treasurer report
The treasurer report was given by the treasurer.
A motion to approve the report was made Ken Bender and seconded by Dewey Drandy, voted on and approved.
Do to the nature of these reports - Chapter members may ask the Treasurer to see them at the meeting hall.
Under Section 4.6 of the Chapter By-laws "...The Treasurer shall make a report on finances at each meeting and records shall be open to any member in good standing when they request that record(s) in writing through the Executive Committee."

The Commander asked Chaplin, to make the illness report.
Two member have passed.

One new members, a transfer from 158, Crystal River, to 70, for the obligations.
Sgt at Arms announced Michael Warner before the group.
Commander gave the obligation.
Chaplain presented the DAV pin award.

Communications:
Notice from National to Chapters and Auxiliary about a bill before the House Veterans Affairs Committee.
The Commander had made copies for the Chapter and Auxiliary - passed them around.
He will address the Auxiliary at the end of the Chapter meeting.

Committee Reports:
Commemorative Pin Committee:
John Seamen reports that sales are very good this far.

Election Committee:
No Report

Grievance Committee:
Again, we do not have one as no one has any grievances.

Unfinished (Old) Business:
Nothing to report.

New Business:
Nothing to report.

(00:32:17) A Moment of Silence was held for our departed comrades.

(00:33:30) Good of the Order:
Ray Michael mention the events at the Bushnell National Cemetery tomarrow for the 'Unattended'.
The 50/50 drawing was held the winner (?).
Another drawing was held, for a 'door prize' - Ken Bender won - Men in Black: How the Supreme Court Is Destroying America by Mark Levin

A motion to adjourned made be Bob Kline - seconded by John McGee - voted on and approved.

Being no other business the Commander led the proper closing ceremony and declared the meeting of the Disabled American Veterans, DAV, Gerald A. Shonk, Chapter 70, Inc., Adjourned.

Our next meeting will be held on October 11, 2016 at 2 pm.
