Meeting of 13 October 2016
13:55 hours: After our feed we opened to a joint section.
A quest speaker Melanie Keller with Veteran Outreach Program, Ocala Vet Center
She started the mission of the program and what they do and were.
14:05 hours We closed the 'Wall' and opened our meeting.
18 members present and 2 guest.
The Commander asked the Adjutant to call the roll of Officers.
Sr Vice Chuck Spikes was not in attentant.
Jr Vice Archie Gooding not in attentant.
All other were present and/or accounted for.
(13:14) The Commander read the minutes of the last meeting of September 13, 2016,
a motion was made by John McGee,
seconded by Ken Bender, to accept them.
The minutes were approved by all.
(17:19) The Commander asked for the treasurer report
The treasurer report was given by the treasurer.
A motion to approve the report was made John McGee and seconded by Al Hayes, voted on and approved.
Do to the nature of these reports - Chapter members may ask the Treasurer to see them at the meeting hall.
Under Section 4.6 of the Chapter By-laws "...The Treasurer shall make a report on finances at each meeting and records shall be open to any member in good standing
when they request that record(s) in writing through the Executive Committee."
(18:59) The Commander asked Chaplin, to make the illness report.
No passings to report
No illness to report, by Max Alverz has not been to the last two meeting. John will check on him.
(19:30) No new members nor updated members for the obligations.
(19:45) Committee Reports:
Commemorative Pin Committee:
John Seamen reports that sales are very good this far - $899.50.
We still have about 300 left - older ppins are being sold also.
Commander made up Purple Heart cards for the 2007 pin to be on, selling at $3.00 each.
(24:00) Scholarship Committee
Nothing on that till Feburary or March
(24:07) Election Committee:
Nothing to report.
(24:30) Commander reported this is the last year for our beloved Treasurer Joe McClister, he wishes to retire as the Treasurer - so we are looking for someone to fill the slot.
Joe's last month will be May 2017, so we have time to enlighten someone, but at the end of May Joe will be gone.
(27:05) Grievance Committee:
Again, we do not have one as no one has any grievances.
(27:20) Unfinished (Old) Business:
The Commander went over the upcoming events for Veteran Appreciaition Week, running from October 29 to November 14.
Commander and the Chaplin will be at the Concert on the 29 at Citrus Springs Community Center, thenat Cornerstone Baptist Church on the 30, John will be receiving an award that day.
The Commander has the Chapter signed up for those and the Veteran Fair, the 5th of November,
Massing of the Colors on the 6th, Commander and Sgt of Arms will be there.
The Veterans Flea Market at Stokes on the 9th, wanted to work with the DAVA on that.
Veterans Day Parade on Friday, the 11,
Memorial Services also that day,
and we will be at the Golden Corral Monday the 7 to Novermber 14.
We need two people for three shifts, 11-3, 3-6, 6-9, Commander will be on the 6-9 each day, looking for others to join in.
John will not be at the Court House this year, we need someone to be there, Edwind Matoes will do that
A thank you note from Mike and Nancy Ostrowski, for the assist the Chapter gave when their vehicle was need of repair.
Nothing yet from the Sheriff's office about a vehicle for him.

Max Armitage ask about the donating $75.00 per child again to the aux., Commander first, waiting to see first if the childern are those of veterans, 2) the amount of money the DAVA has, since they are to support the DAV not the other way around.
After some discussion, a montion was made by Richard Floyd, second by Dewey Drawdy, the issue was tabled.
(00:53:56) A Moment of Silence was held for our departed comrades.
(00:55:30) Good of the Order:
Richard Floyd spoke of donating $200.00 to the Thanksgiving Food Alliance
Montion made by Dewey Drawdy, second by Al Hayes - approved by all.
(56:45) Commander mention the passing of Hanio Hannha, on October 4, at her home in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)- the Voice of Vietnam, the anti american radio service from North Vietnam, she was 89.
(01:01:06) Ray Michael again noted the services for the unattended in Bushnell, held on November 9.
(01:03:55) The 50/50 drawing was held the winner Chuck Kanehl.

The Lending of Courage - American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial"
(01:07:00) A motion to adjourned made be Ken Bender - seconded by Al Hayes - voted on and approved.
Being no other business the Commander led the proper closing ceremony and declared the meeting of the Disabled American Veterans, DAV, Gerald A. Shonk, Chapter 70, Inc., Adjourned.
Our next meeting will be held on November 8, 2016 at 2 pm.
