Meeting of 14 June 2016
(14:00:00 )The opening ceremonies were held, there were
17 members present and two guest.
(00:01:40) The Commander asked the acting Chaplin (Richard Floyd) to call the roll of Officers, in the absent of the Chaplin, since we do not as yet have an Adjutant.
Sr Vice Chuck Spike is on sick call.
Chaplin John Seaman is on vacation.
Service Officer Rod O'Keefe is on vacation.
All other were present and/or accounted for.
(00:03:08) The Commander read the minutes of the last meeting of May 10, 2016,
a motion was made by Archie Gooding,
seconded by Al Hayes, to accept them.
The minutes were approved by all.
(00:10:30) The Commander asked for the treasurer report
The treasurer report was given by the treasurer.
A motion to approve the report was made Archie Gooding and seconded by Dewey Drandy, voted on and approved.
Commander made note of the 'van' - inso much that we were given donation to that fund.
He mention that he is working on attempting to set up a 'run' that will serve the western end of the county, Homosassa, Homosassa Springs, Crystal River, into Levy County to the cross roads at Otta Creek (route-24), then north to Gainesville, since there is no service on that end of the county.
Riders from that area must go to the clinic, being there by 06:00 hours to ride the van, so they have to get up and out by 05:00 hours since it may take them some time to come to the clinic.
The van will be stationed in Homosassa, and those wishing to ride that van will call the clinic for a ride, just as other do, but not have to come to the those pickup points now being serve.
The clinic as already stated they will handle the calls and rides.
The Commander noted he is attempting to enlist the assistance of five drivers, that he as the DAV TN training officer will train, from that area to drive just that van.
Mr Clark, head of Transportion in Gainesville and appoved the plan and once driver are 'in the pool' will let us have a 'loaner' van till funds are raise for that area.
Commander spoke about the DAV TN program again at some lenght.
