Meeting of 8 December 2016

14:13 hours The Commander opened by stating we were not having a joint section but introduce Al Linden, Ex-Director Department of Florida, who will be with us today, and later for the Christmas Party.

Closing 'The Wall'

14:14 hours The Commander called the meeting to order, the opening ceremonies were held, there were

18 members present and 3 guest.

(14:21:00) The Commander asked the Adjutant, to call the roll of Officers.
Ray Michael - Officer of the Day was out
All other were present and/or accounted for.

Commander announced again Al Linden.
Michael Mason a newbie, Marie Del Baron a transfer from 158 and Tony Russo, a transfer in from Chapter 40.

(04:50) The Commander was going to read the minnutes of the last Novembers meeting but missed place them, may get to them later.,
(05:00) The Commander asked for the treasurer report
The treasurer report was given by the treasurer.
A motion to approve the report was made Artie Gooding and seconded by Mike Warner, voted on and approved.
Do to the nature of these reports - Chapter members may ask the Treasurer to see them at the meeting hall.
Under Section 4.6 of the Chapter By-laws "...The Treasurer shall make a report on finances at each meeting and records shall be open to any member in good standing when they request that record(s) in writing through the Executive Committee."

(06:04) The Commander asked Chaplin, to make the illness report.
We have two (2) passings.
Edward Daniels, age 93, Inverness, FL - 16 November 2016 - US Army
and by mail, Wilbur Morrow, age 96, Clinton, IL - 2 Feburary 2014
No reports of sickness.

(07:00) The three members were to take the obligation.
Michael Mason - a newbie.
Marie Del Barone - 25 year pin.
Anthony 'Tony' Russo - 35 year pin, but he has 39 years in.
All were given the obligation - Chaplain Seaman presented them with their years pins.

(14:20) Communications:
Two (2) 1) the booklet 2016 Vol 2 Health_Care_Overview, Commander report it was now on the web site.
(15:20) 2)VA National Cemeteries Pre-Need Application, Commander gave a brief outline of the item.
Mention everything else was for our service officers and that only two of the county service officers will be going with our five to Lake Mary. One has oped out.
Commander noted that he contacted National in the hope of allowing our Chapter service officer be allowed to receive information, along with NSOs, on the iTrak program, the reply was 'NO', not at this time. Nation is working on another program to better train Department and Chapter service officers. Commander, as a VSO, will continual to find material that will aid us in filing claims to better our approval rating.

(17:35) Committee Reports:
Commemorative Pin Committee:
John Seamen reports that sales are very good this far - $2,042.00.
We have about 16 pins left - older pins are being sold also.
Commander noted that at the Golden Coral we collect $1,968.00, add that with the $1,500.00 donation from the Inverness Fraternal Order of Eagles, we recieved last week, we have enough funds to pay for all the service officers to go to school without having to trap into our other funds.

(19:23) Scholarship Committee
Nothing till March

(19:34) Election Committee:
Pass on that since Ray Michael in not here and we do not have elections till May.


(19:35) Grievance Committee:
Again, we do not have one as no one has any grievances.

(19:50) Unfinished (Old) Business:
Cover that.

(19:52) New Business:
Cover that other than - John Seaman mention an article in the newspaper about a school in need of a flag and pole. He made a motion for $100.00, admended to $200.00. Archie Gooding noted that the school had obtain that goal. The motion was admended to just giving then a 5 X 8 flag, Rolling Thunder with give a POW flag. The Montion was now for a 5 X 8 Flag, and a POW flag, to be changed as needed at no cost to the school. Montion by John Seaman, seconded by Mike Warner, voted on and approved by all.

(24:25) Ex-committe
Nothing to report - again what we say to each other outside of the Hall will alway return for the group as a whole.

(25:12) A Moment of Silence was held for our departed comrades.

(27:00) Commander noted that as the webmaster he was doing some of the obits for our departed members and noted that we still do not have information so he can build a web page for them, he asked again that memebers fill out the 'form' on the site and give hima copy of your DD 214 so he can do justice to you went you pass. John McGee mention also about the Army Museum being build, that you may buy a brick for the museum (listen to that section on the audio). Commander noted that all the other service museum, as well as WWII and Disable for Life all have links on the website, but since the Army is not a yet build, theirs is not, it will be once build.

(34:12) Good of the Order:
Ron O'Keefe won the 50/50, he gave it back to the Chapter.
(36:37) Another drawing was held, for a 'door prize' - Damon Shingleton won - "Arguing with Idiots" by Glenn Beck

Being no other business the Commander led the proper closing ceremony and declared the meeting of the Disabled American Veterans, DAV, Gerald A. Shonk, Chapter 70, Inc., Adjourned.

Our next meeting will be held on January 10, 2017 at 2 pm. - Come at 1 PM so we can feed you
