John K. Langenbacher - February 21, 2013 - Homosassa, Florida - Age 88

Born on June 25, 1924 in Clarksburg, West Virginia

Son of the late Clarence and Rossanna (Stout) Langenbacher

A recipient of the
Purple Heart
Purple Heart
after his destroyer The USS Thatcher
was hit by a kamikaze plane in the Asiatic Pacific

A retired restaurateur having owned several restaurants in Orlando in the 1960's

Came to the area thirty (30) years ago from St. Petersburg, Florida

He was a life member of the DAV Chapter 139 (Homosassa, FL) before the merger (2001)

A Catholic and a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Crystal River

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years Betty Jane Langenbacher on May 12, 2004

Survived by his two sons:
Mark Langenbacher - Oahu, HI
Michael Langenbacher - Crystal River, FL
two daughters:
Pat Garskof - Crystal River, FL
Rossanna Sokolosky - Connecticut
six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Private services and burial were held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell,
under the direction of Strickland Funeral Home Crystal River, FL
