William D. Coffey


William D. "Bill" Coffey - August 20, 2010 - Lecanto, FL - Age 79

Born March 14, 1931, in Wyanet, IL, the son of John William and Pearl Mae (Booth) Coffey

He married Phyllis Collinson on September 24, 1952, in Galva and she preceded him in death on May 12, 1995.
He later married Suzanne Spivey in January of 1997 in Lecanto, FL


USAF He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War,
obtaining the rank of Sergeant


He had worked for the City of Kewanee Police Department with the rank of Captain until his retirement.

Upon his retirement, he worked as a Driver's License Examiner for the State of Illinois.


He was a life member of the DAV; Kewanee (IL) VFW Post #8078 and a member of the American Legion in Crystal River, FL,


He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed following the Chicago Cubs


He is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Spivey) Coffey, son: John (Jane Hope) Coffey of Palm Bay, FL, a daughter, Debra Clark and fiancÚ, Steve Gates of Ocoee, FL, a step-daughter, Katherine Ingall of Homosassa Springs, FL, a sister, Betty Sellars of Kissimmee, FL, three step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Virginia Dziengel.


Funeral services were conducted on 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 26, at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee, IL. The Rev. Frank Fisher will officiate. Burial was at Evergreen Memory Gardens, Kewanee, IL. Military rites conducted by the Kewanee Veterans Council
