James C. Bitter - Homosassa, FL - 18 October 2016 - age 88

Born on 23 July 1928 in Dubuque, Iowa

Son of the late Henry and Milderd (Conwell) Bitter

Jim graduated with honors from Loras Military Academy, Dubuque, Iowa,
he then graduated in 1950 from Loras College, also in Dubuque with a Bachelor's degree.

During the Korean War, he was a Rifleman, a Regimental Supply Sergeant

Purple Heart Ribbon

He received the Purple Heart for wound received in action.


After military service he spent a successful career working as a Loss Control inspector & Consultant in the Insurance industry.

While living in Jacksonville, FL., in would travel to Homosassa so that he could enjoy fishing and being out on the water.

He retired and moved to Homosassa.

he was a Life Member of the DAV

Mr. Bitter was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ann Reynolds.

Survived by his daughter, Nancy Bitter, Decatur, GA
daughter, Caroln (John) Silk, Wilmington, NC
3 nieces and 2 nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held near the end of November
