National's Mission Statement
A Legacy of Service, Hope for the Future

DAV is a nonprofit charity that provides a lifetime of support for veterans of all generations and their families,
helping more than 1 million veterans in positive, life-changing ways each year.

The organization provides more than 700,000 rides for veterans attending medical appointments and
assists veterans with more than 300,000 benefit claims annually.

Locally, from the Lecanto Clinic the van service has transported over 4,000 +- to Gainesville or the Villages.

On Friday, August 16, 2019 at the 13:00 hours at the Resource Center, next to the clinic,
the Tampa VA and Gainesville VA Admin., and staff were there to talk about the Lecanto transfer.
LISTEN.
UNEDITED 75 minutes

THE SHORT OF THIS IS:
Starting October 1, 2019, those already going to Gainesville, may continual to go Gainesville or the Villages,
or go to Tampa VA - YOUR CHOICE. Those who have PC at Lecanto need only tell them, were you wish to go.

In 2018 - 2019, DAV helped attain more than $4 billion in new and retroactive benefits to care for veterans,
their families and survivors.

No stats for Citrus, since there are no returns on claims filled at the Chapter level.
Nor at the County level
Of the 17 FDC filed by our Chapter VSOs filed so far in 2019, we know of 1 that received 30%, 3 50 per cent or better, 1 100%, others are unknown.

DAV is also a leader in connecting veterans with meaningful employment,
hosting job fairs and providing resources to ensure they have the opportunity to participate
in the American Dream their sacrifices have made possible.

With more than 1,300 chapters and 1.3 million members across the country,
Citrus has two DAV Chapters - Chapter 70 in Inverness, Chapter 158 in Crytal River.
DAV empowers our nation's heroes and their families by helping to provide the resources they need
and ensuring our nation keeps the promises made to them.

The American's Creed
by William Tyler Page - Written 1917
Accepted by the United States House of Representatives on April 3, 1918.

I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people,
by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed,
a democracy in a republic, a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States;
a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom,
equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.

I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution,
to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies.

White House VA Hotline

The hotline's pilot began under direction of the Veterans Experience Office
on June 1, 2017, and entered phase two on October 15, 2017.
White House VA Hotline: 1-855-948-2311

Calls are answered by a live agent 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
The hotline, located in Shepherdstown, West Virginia is staffed by more than 60 agents who have had extensive training on VA programs and services.
Ninety-three percent of these agents are a Veteran, military family member, caregiver or a survivor.

The White House VA Hotline conducts immediate warm hand offs for at-crisis risk Veterans needing the services of the Veterans Crisis Line.
Trends identified by the hotline will be used to rapidly respond to systemic inefficiencies and empower VA employees to resolve Veteran concerns quickly.
Veterans should continue to use existing VA customer service hotlines:

Benefits: 1-800-827-1000
Veterans Crisis Line: 1-800-273-8255
